AMEC (Minch Moor) and GreenPower (Broadmeadows) plan to place turbines
next to the Sir Walter Scott Way, Southern Upland Way, and the Minch Moor.
Walkers and riders between Traquair and Yair will pass close to a series of 364
foot high turbines, equivalent to almost twice the size of the Scott Monument or
as high as the Forth Railway Bridge.
This is the present outlook from Brown Knowe (523m) that the many outdoor enthusiasts enjoy today.
Is this the view and situation that would be attractive to you and the visitor?
The Southern Upland Way and Sir Walter Scott Way pass only metres from the
proposed turbine locations.
The Broadmeadows Action Group is certain this is not what is wanted for the area and that to approve the planning application there will be substantial and permanent damage to countryside, environment and economy.
The Goals of the group are:-
Opposition to inappropriately sited wind
factories in the Yarrow Valley where high visibility and noise disturbance
will impact negatively on peoples lives, businesses and the landscape
The Group is made up of concerned residents of the
Yarrowford and Clovenfords communities. BAG is not against the principle of
generating electricity from renewable sources, but feel the need for stricter
control relating to the selection of potential sites, especially for schemes
that provide little or no environmental benefit.
